I called for pricing on oil change and new brakes. The male was very rude and to be associated with Costco rewards does not match the quality in customer service. The male was Not friendly at all. He could not give a price range for brakes either.

I first came to Autotime in 1995 based on a friend's recommendation. I had had had three bad experiences with mechanics: two were great at giving me a lowball estimate and later discovering unexpected and expensive new problems. The other place was well-intentioned but not technically up to date. I've been coming to Autotime ever since. Bob Macas is simply the best. After my previous experiences with auto mechanics I am highly skeptical of auto repair shops. However, regarding Bob Macas, I trust him completely. I've had five cars serviced by him and his crew. They give an accurate diagnosis the first time. When there is a problem after a repair, he stands by his repair and makes it right. If you want to roll the dice try someplace else. I'm 64 years old and have been around for a while: Autotime is the best auto repair place around. There may be other good ones out there, but I''m sticking with Bob.

I was recommended to AutoTime by another shop that seemed to be booked up. One of my serpentine belts came loose, due to my tensioner falling off. I called them up on a Thursday morning, and they told me to come right in.
They charged me $447 to replace both belts, and the tensioner and pulley that were affected. They were super friendly, honest, and expedient during the whole process, and made sure to call me as soon as they had any updates for me. 4 hours later I had my car back, as good as new.
I recommend this place to anyone experiencing car troubles. They're honest, affordable and they know what they're doing.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael I.Lyons, IL04Apr 15, 2019
Always was treated with respect and didn't make me feel like an idiot. I am a man who doesn't know lick about cars. They get the job done right the right way. They recommend the necessary repairs but do not force you to get the repairs. They have always treated me fair and just.

Was referred to this place by my cousin. He seemed to had liked the service they did with his truck. Great honest people to deal with. Their prices may be a little high but they never fail to do the trick. May I also add, their service IS exceptional! I would recommend this place any day.

Rip off artists! They will lie and try to get all of your money even if your repair only costs $150 they will lie and say you need $600 in repairs. Stay away!!!!! Do not trust their workers giving them good reviews.

Do you have a mechanic that nickels and dimes you to death? Does your mechanic claim to fix the problem but you return within a few days complaining that it hasn't been fixed? When you return, does your mechanic identify some other problem that needs to be addressed before he can fix the original problem, thus charging you more money?
Time to visit Autotime! Are they expensive? At first glance, yes. However, I can guarantee that your problem will be addressed and fixed properly within that one visit. In the long run you will save time and money with these gents because you will not be spending endless amounts of money on some other guy trying to pinpoint your troubles.
Bob, Mark and gang have been my go-to mechanics for over 10 years now. I even take my car there for my oil changes despite that they are more expensive than the quick service centers. (One time I went to one of those places because I was short on time, and the quick service center stripped my oil pan nut, which caused a leak and required the whole pan and nut to be replaced -- a $60 repair that has never happened at Autotime.)
They do not push any unnecessary repairs. They call you to give you the precise problem, resolution and amount it will cost. There are no surprises when you pick up your car later.
They also have a lot of integrity, which is a rare attribute in mechanics. One time my engine light came on for a problem that was covered under a "techinical service bulletin" by the manufacturer, which is an unofficial recall. Autotime informed me that the $600 repair could be fixed at a dealership for free. I paid $79 for the diagnostic test.
Bonus: If you fail the emissions test and have them correct the problem, they will take the car back to the emissions center for you for the re-test!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert W.Chicago, IL716Apr 22, 2013
I was at first skeptical of the service and prices of Autotime, probably because of unfamiliarity with the area and the terms at which they were chosen for me. I broke down on I-55S in the city and the AAA service I used to tow me knew of Autotime as a AAA certified dealer and suggested it, so we went there and dropped the car on a Sunday afternoon (closed).
Diagnosis began promptly Monday morning after a hassle free call. About an hour after I called them I received a call back (quick!) and they quoted me $500 for a fix of my fuel pump all-in. I learned this was reasonable after consulting another mechanic in Chicagoland, finding fuel pump prices at AutoZone and learning that this price included the original 1 hour diagnostic fee and labor to install the part. Their labor rate is a reasonable $80/hr.
After covering my basis, I called back in the morning to authorize Autotime to order the necessary part and move forward on the work they quoted. I received good communication throughout the process including expectations on timing/cost of the fix and receiving word when the work was finished. I happily picked up my car Monday evening (same day!) and got out for the price originally quoted.
As an added bonus they're within walking distance of the Kedzie Orange line stop. My only complaint is parts pricing. Though I know shops customarily markup on parts, their price for my part was especially high ($320) vs. what I believe to be a similar part online or at AutoZone ($140). Otherwise these guys are friendly, fast, and efficient.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
