As Alla Kournikova left her $2.2 million Palm Beach mansion to run errands Tuesday afternoon, she locked up the residence and handed her 5-year-old son a phone, police said.

She thought she had left Allan sitting on the couch watching television, according to police. But, home alone, the boy instead found his way to a second story balcony window. He jumped, landing on the ground 15 feet below.

Moments later — about 20 minutes after his mother had left — a passerby found the boy soaking wet in front of the residence at 211 Seabreeze Ave.

Alla Kournikova, 46, who is also the mother of retired Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova, was charged with child neglect and booked into the Palm Beach County jail, where she remained Tuesday evening.

The boy, Anna's half-brother, was treated by Palm Beach Fire Rescue and taken to a local hospital. His condition and who was looking after him were unknown tonight, a Palm Beach Police spokeswoman said.

But the boy was walking around in front of the residence when police arrived and he told them he went into the pool because his feet hurt, a probable cause affidavit said. The boy had bruising on his feet and lower back as a result of the fall, the affidavit said.

Alla Kournikova returned home 45 minutes after Allan was found — after police left a message on her cell phone.

She told police that she left the boy at home because he did not want to go with her while she ran errands, according to the report. She advised she deadbolt locked the residence.

Property records indicate that Alla Kournikova purchased the home for $2.2 million in 2005 and has it recorded as her official domicile.
