Taylor Swift Surprised a Fan at Her Bridal Shower—See the Video That's Going Viral!

There’s no question that Taylor Swift has an avid fan base, but the pop star often goes out of her way to return the love. In 2014, the “Bejeweled” singer surprised a fan named Gena at her bridal shower, and Swift vlogged her experience and uploaded the clip on YouTube. Now, the throwback video has resurfaced on TikTok and is going viral. A Taylor Swift fan account @therastour13 uploaded the footage on June 13, 2023; in less than 24 hours, the post has already racked up 2.3 million views, 253,900 likes, 14,800 saves, 5,302 shares, and 2,434 comments. “When Taylor Swift surprised her fan and went to her bridal shower,” the caption says. “I miss her vlogs so much and it makes me cry to see what she does for her fans. I love her so so so much.”

The video begins with Swift filming herself, explaining the backstory and her decision to show up unannounced. “Pretty early in the morning, and I’m getting up because there’s this girl named Gena who’s been coming to my shows for years, and she’s been really, really dedicated and very loyal,” Swift begins. “I was at the management office the other day, and we were going through fan mail and invitation and stuff, and I got this wedding invitation.” Swift pulls up a save-the-date card decorated with floral illustrations featuring a photo of the engaged couple wearing Western attire. “And I noticed I couldn’t make it to the wedding,” she shares. 

“But in the wedding invitation, there was a bridal shower invitation," she continues. Swift holds up another invite: a gray card with a scalloped edge and a drawing of a strapless wedding dress on the front. “I’ve never been to a bridal shower, so we’re flying to Ohio today!” she exclaims in the video. “Gena has no idea that we’re coming. Nobody, none of her friends know we’re coming, and so, we’re gonna go surprise her.”

Swift wasn’t going to arrive empty handed. “And I brought a recipe for chocolate chip cookies and cookies I made, and I painted her this thing, and I hope she likes it,” the “Love Story” singer reveals. “I’m really excited.” The next scene cuts to Swift riding in a car on the runway before her plane takes off, and she points the camera to even more gifts: bags of wrapped packages. “That is one of them,” she says while filming the presents. “That’s another one. That’s another present, and all the other presents are in another car.” Swift then expresses her excitement by singing a melody, “Bridal shower, going to a bridal shower, gonna wear pastel, gonna go to the bridal shower, gonna give her some presents.”

The next scene cuts to Swift after she’s arrived at the location, and she's wearing a pastel green dress while walking to the room with a box of gifts in her hand. The video shows the bride-to-be locking eyes with Swift and unveils her real-time reaction. Gena’s jaw drops, and her face breaks into a huge smile before she embraces the pop singer. At the party, Swift meets and hugs the future groom, Bryan, and chats and takes selfies with Gena.

In the comments section beneath the video, other Swifties express their love for the pop sensation. “I’m sobbing!! How sweet is this woman??!” one fan writes. Another types, “This is why Taylor is the BEST!!!!! Soooooo sweet.” Others imagine what would happen if the “Lover” singer showed up at their own bridal shower or wedding. “So if I just invite Taylor Swift to my wedding one day,” the top comment says.
