Dirk Nowitzki had hilarious reply to having his name misspelled on his jersey

Mistakes happen to the best of ’em, although the timing on this one wasn’t the greatest.

On the night Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki passed 50,000 career minutes — he’s now 5th all-time behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett and Jason Kidd — the name on the back of his jersey was spelled “NOWITKZI.”

Nowitkzi’s Nowitzki’s reaction was perfect and funny and also a little sad. Via the Dallas Morning News:

“I actually just saw it,” Nowitzki said in the postgame locker room. “I had no idea, no idea. I guess it happens. I usually look at my jersey. I guess it kind of sums up our season.”

The paper reports the Mavs are considering auctioning off the one-of-a-kind jersey for charity. UPDATE: They are!
