Battery Drain ISsue on my LG G3

I have a LG G3 D855 (not rooted) and i have been facing battery drain issues regularly.

I m a light user, i only use mobile for texting, whatsapp, taking prictures and making calls but still i get a horrible battery time.

No bluetooth ON
No NFC ON
No GPS ON
No Data ON
Screen Brightness is 0 percent as i m mostly indoors.

But still i get only 1.6 hours of screen time, i dont text too much and dont listen to music. I dont have any game installed. I have installed Greenify to hibernate apps but it does not helps.

When i use Facebook at 0 percent brightness the battery drops 1 percent every minute. My experience is getting ruined.
Need your help guys!!

i suffer no hardships doing this -

Battery Tips for Android

1. Toggle off High Accuracy GPS Mode, Bluetooth, NFC,
Hotspot/Tethering. Toggle on only as needed. (Set GPS Mode to "Battery
Saving" Mode).
2. Display Brightness - Turn off Auto Brightness and Reduce Setting
Bar to Minimum Acceptable to you.
3. Sign out of any unused Google Services like G+, Google Now, Hangouts, etc.
4. Disable Location Reporting and Location History.
5. Beware of constantly syncing in background Apps and Bloatware like
Facebook, Twitter, Weather Channel, Games, Google News/Weather,
Non-Push Email, etc. Set Sync interval for every 1 hour or more and
change settings to stop the syncing of data you don't need. Delete
their Apps and use their Web Page if acceptable.
6. Turn Off Hot Word "Hotword Detection" Always Listening Mode in
Google Search if you don't use it.
7. Turn Off Auto Camera/Photo Upload or at least set it for Upload on WIFI Only.
8. Turn Off Vibrate on Touch for Display, Keyboard, etc.
9. Turn Off Touch Sounds and Unlock Sounds.
10. Turn Off Ambient Display/Active Display Notifications if you don't need it.
11. Don't use a Live Wallpaper. Use a dark wallpaper if possible.
12. Set Display Sleep Setting to 2 Minutes or Less.
13. WIFI Settings - Advanced -
a. Network Notification - Set as OFF.
b. Scanning Always Available - Set as OFF.
c. Keep WIFI on during Sleep - Set as ALWAYS if you regularly use
WIFI. OK to keep WIFI on if you regularly use it.
14. Turn Off Always Vibrate in Gmail/Email.
15. Be careful of using too many Live Widgets and what/how often they sync.
16. Set MS Exchange Sync at 30 Days or Less if you use it.
17. Do NOT use a Task Killer App or Battery Saver App.
18. Uninstall ALL Apps that you never use. If you haven't used an
App in one month, uninstall it.
19. Reboot your phone at least once a month.
20. Wipe Cache Partition at least once a quarter or after every OS Update.
21. Consider a Factory Data Reset with a manual re-sync, manual
reinstall of all data and Apps after every major OS Letter Update.
Make sure that all of your data is first backed up to Google and
Dropbox, etc.

"I SUFFER NO HARDSHIPS DOING THIS" - this means that i personally am
giving up NOTHING with these tips. i'm not giving up any features.
there are no tradeoffs for me. a tradeoff or a hardship would be to
turn off PUSH email or use AIRPLANE mode during the day etc.

you have to find your own balance and the tips list is a start but you
must come to your own conclusion as to what's important. it's personal
preference but these are not a big deal to me at all as they do not
affect the function or operation of my phone. these tips do not
deteriorate my experience.

you don't HAVE TO do anything. the point is you if you want to
MAXIMIZE battery life you can turn things off that you aren't using.
it only makes sense. there is a FINITE amount of juice in ANY
battery. you choose how you want to spend that juice. by default most
of these devices have every feature set as ON whether you use them or
not. i prefer to change the settings in my phone to only use those
features that i personally use and need so i can maximize battery
life. i don't leave all the lights and TVs on in my house 24/7 - i
turn them on when i need them. i'm not giving anything up. my phone
does everything exactly like i want it to. i'm not missing out on
anything. it's no hardship for me. it's life. life is a delicate
balance. it's up to you to find that balance.

Re: Battery Drain ISsue on my LG G3

I feel my battery life isn't great but I don't turn anything off and average 2hr 40 sot.

Have you tried a factory reset? If so, you may have a faulty battery.

Re: Battery Drain ISsue on my LG G3

What does the battery use details show as the top draining app on your phone?

I used to get similar screen on times like you did with what I considered light usage as well. You should definitely experiment with the battery tips from above. After experimenting with different configurations and apps, I am pretty happy with my battery life now. Currently sitting at 2h25min SOT with 40% battery left over 47h41min of light usage.

Here is my current setup:
bluetooth off - enabled when needed
NFC off - enabled when needed
GPS on
Data off - enabled when needed
Wifi - depends on what I am doing, sometimes I leave it on, sometimes not
brightness - I use lux lite for auto brightness. Leaving at 0% is letting a good screen to waste.
Account Sync - I used to auto sync 3 google accounts and changed to 1. Experiment with it depending on your needs. The more you sync, the more battery you will use.
Greenify - only hibernate apps that doesn't restart itself.
Battery Doctor - only using the profile mode to auto switch to sleep mode at night. I don't use the task killing features.

Stock phone, non-rooted, still on KitKat 4.4.

Re: Battery Drain ISsue on my LG G3

My experience with the LG G3 (Verizon version) is that battery life and performance became noticeably worse after the Lollipop update. It ran fine under Kit Kat, but it's a rather poor phone now with Lollipop. For example, it overheats frequently when using Google Maps for navigation.

Re: Battery Drain ISsue on my LG G3

I've heard a lot about the lollipop update causing issues in this area. I experienced similar issues with my own G3. I could somewhat make it through a 12 hr day, in light, to almost moderate usage. I then tried Juice Defender from the Google play store, free battery saving app, and today, I got through 16 hours of average usage, almost heavy, with still about 30% left! Hope this helped in some way, the app is worth a shot, good luck!

Don't root your phone.
Install Marshmallow update.
Your phone won't heat and battery backup will be great.
I found rooting the phone drain battery life and heavy heating problems.

For anyone else having trouble with battery problems on their LG G3, you can try to install an app like Greenify or 3C toolbox. Moreover, for those who have not already, adjust you brightness, gps and sync settings.

When I was having issues, I read this article and I was able to get everything sorted. Now, my battery doesn't drain as fast. Good luck everyone.

Yet more bad advise. Juice Defender is from 2011 and total abandonware. I doubt it did anything at all for you besides a hefty dose of placebo.

I know this thread is a month old but felt like I needed to put in my .02 as I just finished doing all I could to save my runaway battery on my g3 VS985. It was pretty bad considering that I'm a fairly light user with battery drain that I'd expect from moderate user level. Not as bad as some of the stories i've read but still unacceptable to me.

I always leave off Wifi, BT, location and data ect until I have a need for them.

I went through the compiled lists of of apps/bloatware on various forums that were safe to remove and removed/disabled/froze most of them. I had a few apps that always ran and removed those as well (Truecalled, 360 Security). I don't think they used much but I don't really have a need for them at this time.

At this point I was satisfied with the results but kept getting a quick 1-2% blip on the battery usage chart at what seems to be every couple hours. After much research and detective work I determined that it was the stock Accuweather widget. I opened it up and set it to manually update and it has been fine since.

Cliffs-

Remove/freeze/disable all the apps you don't use, google search for apps that can be removed safely on the lg g3. Something like "lg g3 safe remove apps".

Remove any apps that are always on if they are no longer needed. Do this by going into settings>application manager and swiping over to "running".

Go into the weather widget>3 dot>settings and change update interval to manual.

I'm a noob so much of this is common knowledge to you guys, just wanted to write it down somewhere for for search purposes. :)

If the battery looks warped and gets hot while charging, it needs to be replaced. That's a no brainer and it cannot be salvaged or worked around. It's kaput.

If the battery is fine, but when you pick up the phone and it feels slightly warm, even though you haven't used it, then it's probably running something when it shouldn't be running. This can be caused by a lot of different things, and can be solved from anything from clearing your cache, doing a malware/virus scan, all the way to factory resets and data wipes. I'm sure you've gone through many of these things if you've had this problem. And even though it may solve the problem, it may come back, for no apparent reason - because over time there are updates and we add or remove apps when we use our phone.

Personally, i've tried so many things and as mentioned, some measures have worked but problems come back and persist. The only sure way that i have done that gives me result is to use the Greenify app and use shallow hibernation and aggressive doze, along with not keeping wifi on during sleep. This ensures that, when i'm not actually using the phone, all processes (apart from core/critical) and any data is completely shut down and thereby the power that is used toward that end is cut off. If i have light use, i can have a charge for as long as 4-5 days at a time, which sounds incredible, but with the screen off most of the time and no background processes, it's possible.

But for this to work, you need to have your phone rooted and Greenify working in root, with Usage Access. It's a good idea to root your phone since you want to be able to get rid of bloatware that is probably draining a lot of your juice in the first place.

Also, my phone is over two years old so i will be replacing my battery, as i feel that total capacity has decreased over time - meaning, it is no longer 3000mAh, and even if it's "healthy" in terms of draw and charge, it's like having a smaller battery so it doesn't last as long under use.

Anyway to sum up, ROOT, Greenify, shallow/aggressive doze. Hope that helps.
