Report: Rockets interested in signing Joe Johnson after expected buyout

For the first time in Daryl Morey’s tenure as general manager, the Rockets stood pat at the trade deadline and didn’t make any moves. However, that doesn’t mean Morey isn’t exploring avenues to improve the roster between now and the playoffs. Houston is expected to be active on the buyout market, and according to NBA.com’s David Aldridge, they’re interested in seven-time All-Star Joe Johnson, who is expected to be available after being traded from Utah to Sacramento on Thursday.

Johnson previously played for Mike D’Antoni in Phoenix and fits his offense, and could be a valuable shooter off the bench and some more backcourt depth as Eric Gordon battles a back injury. He is expected to be bought out in Sacramento shortly.
