New Hartford, NY - Doreen J. “Squeek” Czupryna, 71, a life-long resident of New York Mills, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, Monday, November 6, 2023, at the St. Luke’s Home. 

Cioci Doreen was born April 27, 1952, in Utica, NY, to Alphonse and Eleanor (Furmanski) Czupryna. Doreen earned her education in the New York Mills School District. In Doreen’s early years, she worked for Coca-Cola, as an office manager, and later retired as an office manager from Pulver Roofing. 

Doreen was a life-long member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus-Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church. She enjoyed her time at the church and engaged in numerous positions such as the president of the youth association, and the ladies adorations society. She was a member of the New York Mills FD ladies auxiliary, for 25+ years, in which she held the positions of (former) president and member of the board of directors. Doreen was also one of the founders of the Bell Fest, in New York Mills for 19 years. She enjoyed camping with Mini and Chasbo Roberts in Cape Cod and the St. Lawrence River, as well as, family trips to Ocean City, Maryland. 

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Kenneth and Nancy Cyupryna, and Timothy and Paula Czupyrna; special friend, who she considered a sister, Debbie and Frank (her Uber driver) Vivacqua; her cherished nieces and nephews, Kimberly Potrzeba (Rich Rustici), Melissa (sweet pea) and Dannie Britt, Steven Czupryna, Goddaughter Julie Czupryna (Boogins) and her husband David Montenegro; great nieces and great nephews, John (Johnny P), Jason (J - bird), and Julia (Juju B) Potrzeba, Noah (James) Britt and his girlfriend Samantha Shawl, Zachary Britt (My main man) and his fiancé Giavanna Delahunt, and Kaylie Britt (My little pretty); and also fur baby, Gizmo.  

The family would like to thank her partner-in-crime, Dolly Golowski, for her friendship while roommates in the St. Luke’s home; and The Very Reverend, Father Walter Madej and all of the youth at the church. Special thanks to the staff at the St. Luke’s Home for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Doreen. 

In keeping with Doreen’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Doreen’s funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 11, 2023, 12:30, at Sacred Heart of Jesus-Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, 206 Main St., New York Mills, NY. Arrangements are under the care of Wolanin Funeral Home, 266 Main St., New York Mills, NY 13417.
