Since VW bought Bentley...

There has been two production lines: one VW/Bentleys (continental series 2003 onwards ) and second the Pure Bentleys (Brooklands coupe, Azure, Mulsanne).
Talking about PuristS...
Food for thought ;-)

Bentley Brooklands Coupé ... The Brooklands is powered by a 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce twin-turbocharged OHV V8 engine, producing 530 horsepower (395 kW) and 1,050 newton metres (774 lbf. · ft), the highest torque ever developed by a production V8 engine using petrol.

That is a lot of torque...

My car has around 700 Newton-metres... I can't imagine a car with 50% more torque. I drove a few Mulsannes and Musanne Speeds on a racetrack in Florida. They were better cars than I expected. I haven't driven the Arnage nor the Brooklands.

That engine is an amazing work of art...

An ancient engine. Too bad it's kept hidden away under a bonnet. Over 400 man hours goes into building even the simplest Mulsanne vehicle, options and customizations increase this significantly. About 175 minimum man hours per Continental GT or Flying Spu...

It drives amazingly...

The only downside are the brakes due to the massive weight. I will eventually change the disks to the ceramic ones. Due to the enormous torque you would never think that the car weighs more than 2.5 tons.

Ahh...

Good to know. Rolls should offer ceramic discs for their WRAITH. That'd help a lot. As for the dive and the recoil, they need to do something about that. And the flocking in the glove compartment is the cheap spray on stuff onto sticky paper flocking that...

Lately not very often...

I bought it in 2009 and I used to drive it quite often in the country side of northern Italy. From one Osteria to another...

Got it. Good to know...

I try to not put the cars on a battery tender by using them regularly. But I'd rather be out traveling and not at home. I like to visit multiple Osterias in one day too. My record in one night was five different restaurants all in the same night. We had a...

Wow!

You must like your food and wine ;-)

It is nearly 7 litres...

...and is turbocharged. Torque is a given...And even then less than 60hp/l. sounds like fun, though!

IMHO.....

.....the Bentley Brooklands Coupe is one of the most beautiful cars produced in the last few years. Best, John. ...

This car is one for the Purists!

I have seen most of the modern cars of the world, from Lamborghini Reventons to Bugatti Veyrons. But amongst all of the premier marques, the Brooklands Coupe is one I see very little of on the road. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. Its a bad thing a...

I agree with your comment...

... thanks Best G.

Most definitely my favorite Bentley of the last few decades.

And produced in such low quantity, it is very rare to see one on the road. I love it for the old world luxury it represents.

Bravo!

For the amount of money

I would prefer the more exclusive Rolls Royce Ghost!

I found the Ghost difficult to drive...

 By: patrick_y : May 27th, 2017-03:23
Had to twist my neck too far to see the blind spot to change lanes. And they don't have blind spot assist! I don't have that problem with the Wraith. You're right, better to leave the Ghost for a chauffeur.

So Patrick...

What other RR model do you have? I you don't mind me asking Best G.

I love the Bentley Brooklands!

My wife and I lived on St Georges Hill for a year, which overlooks the Brooklands track. And being as swanky a neighborhood as you'll find anywhere in the world, was swarming with fine cars. Before Brooklands became a model designation, of course it was t...

No, thank you...

For your beautiful reportage

I guess I have a "thing" for old Bentleys

 By: cazalea : May 25th, 2017-11:58
My wife can get away with touching any car, and usually gets a ride as well Our LowTus is a bit closer to the ground than the Bentley Cough, cough, choke A different one - much faster boy racer I'm not opposed to new ones either but have never driven one....

Very nice..

So where do live now?

Nice!

Nice photos!

A highly impressive vehicle....

though I have to say the Mulsanne is definitely my favorite Bentley thus far, it embodies perfectly everything the factory at Crewe stands for. In that regard I agree with and appreciate Patrick's comments above! Cheers, Filip

Thanks

Rare and beautiful!

 By: DSF : May 26th, 2017-04:36
Looking at those pictures already made my day a happy one! Pure Bentley indeed, rare and beautiful too. Brookland is 2 door coupe version of the Arnage, and I believe Rolls Royce didn't make a coupe version of the Siver Seraph, which makes the Brookland e...

We keep saying rare but how rare?

 By: DSF : May 26th, 2017-06:20
Only 426 Brooklands were made, compare to 796 Azure/Azure T, its convertible counterpart.

I really like your Bentley, just wish they made one 3/4 size.

I owned a few Continental GT's and they were great road cars, like a living room on wheels. I always liked seeing the different hand built models.

Thanks...
