Nikiszowiec in Katowice
This is a historical monument - a century-old workers' settlement in Katowice that has been perfectly preserved, importantly: not disfigured by modern buildings or advertisements. Taking a walk through this extraordinary place is a true journey back in time! Interestingly, the entire settlement (including the St. Anne's Church and its interior) was designed by two cousins: Emil and Georg Zillmann.
Former Inn Building
The former inn building, adorned with a mosaic of roses, is the most recognizable place. It used to house a pub, guest rooms, and even a bowling alley. The roses decorating the walls refer to the motif of ribbons, which are part of the Silesian folk costume. Allegedly, the choice of such decoration for the building was meant to make the residents of the settlement feel 'at home' here.
