BAN DEMAND

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary claims ban on flying should be slapped on ‘lunatic’ anti-vaxxers

RYANAIR CEO Michael O’Leary has claimed only vaccinated people should be allowed to fly and bashed "lunatic" anti-vaxxers.

The Irish airline chief claims authorities should "make life difficult" for those who refuse to get the jab without a good reason as "mass hysteria" and "blind panic" over Omicron take over.

It comes after the Irish public were slapped with new restrictions for the festive season yesterday amid fears over the deadly new Omicron variant.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: "I don't think that governments should permit those people who are not vaccinated to go and infect everybody else.

"You can sit at home and get your deliveries of medicines and food. But you should not go to work or go on public transport unless you have a vaccine certificate.

'LUNATIC' ANTI-VAXXERS

"We recognise the rights of everybody to decide not to get vaccinated if you so want. If you personally object to vaccination, because it's some huge government/big pharma conspiracy; apart from the fact that you would be plainly an idiot, we respect your right to be an idiot."

Ryanair has already been hard hit by the impact of the Omicron variant - expecting to fly around ten per cent fewer passengers in December and January over customer concerns.

The frustrated businessman blasted "lunatic" anti-vaxxers who believe the jab is a conspiracy and added that his airline won't be banning any unvaccinated people but "governments need to".

Speaking to The Times, he said: "I have no difficulty in saying to people, you can fly, but you have to be vaccinated.

"The huge majority of the population that has done the sensible, the caring, the protective thing for the community and gotten vaccinated, should not be restricted.

"If you tell someone under 30 years of age that they cannot get into a pub they'd get vaccinated pretty damn quickly.

"But governments should place increasing restrictions [on the unjabbed], while recognising the rights of everybody. If you want to be unvaccinated, that's fine, but we should increasingly not allow those to go to work, to travel on the Underground, to fly, to go to the supermarket, to go to pharmacies."
