Description

Subordinating Conjunctions in Complex Sentences: cause/effect, reason/result

Teach your students subordinating conjunctions in complex sentences to support understanding and expression of cause/effect relationships. They will learn the subordinating conjunctions /because, since, so, and therefore/. Real photos are used in this Printable deck! This is perfect for language disordered, ELA instruction, or English language learners.

WHY IS TEACHING COMPLEX SENTENCE STRUCTURE SO IMPORTANT?

1. students identify the difference between a reason and a result.

2. students select which order the phrases should be placed in the sentence frame to explain reasons using the conjunctions because/since.

3. they select phrases to explain results using the conjunctions so/therefore.

4. students select and order phrases for both reasons & results using all 4 conjunctions (because, since, so, therefore).

5. students are prompted to verbalize the sentence to check their reasoning.

This printable resource is developed for speech-language pathologists, educators, paraprofessionals, and parents to assist in developing language skills in children and adolescents.
