An ex Harrods worker has revealed secrets behind the scenes of the luxury department store - including a hidden passageway.

Former retail worker of six years, Maggie Anne - a makeup and skin care social media star - has been sharing on her TikTok page what it is really like working in luxury retail.

The former Charlotte Tilbury counter staff member previously confessed £800 was normal for customers to spend on makeup in Harrods, and claimed customers who hand over £2,000 in cash are checked out by security.

Maggie shared stories about her accidentally giving £500 worth of goods to the wrong customer, as well as an £800 transaction failing to go through after the customer fled the store. In her most recent confession, Maggie spoke about a "special tunnel" reportedly used for the Royal Family and A-List celebrities.

The social media star, who owns her own jewellery brand, claimed: "I worked in Harrods for two years and there's some pretty cool things that go down in that place that the general public will have no idea about. I don't think a lot of people actually know this but in Harrods there is actually a sort of special secret tunnel - like a VIP tunnel.

The ex-Harrods worker continued: "Basically these VIP tunnels are used for like A-list celebrities and royalty to enter and exit Harrods without the general public and normal customers knowing that they're even there."

"I'm pretty sure there's only like five staff members in the whole of Harrods that actually are allowed to know the entrance and the exits to these VIP tunnels." Maggie alleges the likes of Royal Family member, Beyoncé, and Drake have used the secret passageway.

According to the influencer, there are "private suite areas" for the super-rich where they can enjoy the best customer service and personal shoppers. However, Maggie claims that she knows people "who have got the sack" because they have asked celebrities for selfies. The staff members are not allowed to acknowledge when they recognise famous people.

Maggie continued: "Another cool fact is that if you are working in Harrods and you were to see an A-list celebrity or anyone you recognise, you are not allowed to let that celebrity know that you have recognised them and you know who they are. So there was many a time when I was serving celebrities and I would not be allowed to let them know that I know who they are - even if it's very obvious."

She added: "That is a no go. You do not ask a celebrity for a selfie when you're working in Harrods. Absolutely not." After sharing the "cool stories" on TikTok some former Harrods employees also shared their experiences. One individual said: "I worked in Harrods in 1995 and saw lady Diana." Another person claiming to be an ex employee said: "I used to work at Harrods and I genuinely did get the sack 'for not smiling properly'."
