The Healer's Talisman was created from an ancient text called The Black Pullet. The Healer's Talisman gives the wearer "knowledge of all minerals and vegetables with their virtues and properties; gives also the universal medicine and the faculty of healing all sick persons." - Anonymous, The Black Pullet, circa 1740.
The history of the Black Pullet dates back to the French general Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. An officer in the army of Napoleon was sent on an expedition to the Pyramids of Egypt. In the shadow of "The Grand Colossus") The Great Pyramid), the expedition was attacked by a horde of "Arabs of the Desert". In a fierce battle, all were slain save the brave officer, who was mortally wounded. Upon regaining consciousness, he thought the end was near when "suddenly a stone rolled back in the Pyramid and a venerable man issued forth." He took the officer into the Great Pyramid; "There were vast halls and endless galleries, subterranean chambers piled with treasures, apparitions of blazing lamps, ministering Spirits innumerable..." After gaining the confidence of the ancient sage, the officer was made apprentice and taught, "in the powers and wonders of twenty-two Talimanic figures..." The Healers Talisman was inspired by this manuscript, The Black Pullet, published by the officer in the mid 1700s.
Healers are present in all cultures. They are known by many names: Medicine Men, Magic Men, Witches, Herbalists, Shamans and Witch-Doctors to name a few. Throughout the ages, people have relied on their healers to treat physical, emotional and spiritual dis-ease. Today, healers are present in our culture in both traditional and alternative ways. We no longer turn only to Western doctors trained in Allopathic medicine. We also seek healing through western herbalists. Chinese herbalists and acupuncturists, osteopathic physicians, psychics, tarot readers, palm readers, energy healers and a myriad of other alternative practitioners.
The Healer's Talisman is a tribute to all those caring souls who dedicate their lives to helping us achieve and maintain wellness and balance in our lives. It helps us to connect with the healing wisdom of the ages.
