The Austrian left the Hammers acrimoniously in the summer of 2019 to link up with Shanghai SIPG for around £22 million (Telegraph).

And some West Ham fans really don’t want the Marko Arnautovic back in east London…

ExWHUemployee claimed that David Sullivan and David Gold are not keen on bringing the 85-capped Austria international back to West Ham.

So that’s good news for those fans who don’t want him back.

There is an argument to be had for both sides.

Marko Arnautovic, hero or villain?

Sure, Marko Arnautovic was an incredibly disruptive figure towards the end of his Hammers career. And it is fair to say that the last thing the current West Ham squad needs is a troublesome influence arriving in January and affecting morale.

On the other hand, Arnie’s talent and quality is undeniable. The 31-year-old has all of the attributes needed to perform the lone striker role and he would provide us with a completely different facet to our attacking play.

Signing Arnautovic does seem unlikely at the moment. If the owners fancy a gamble, however, and Moyes truly wants to bring the former Hammer back to the London Stadium, it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see West Ham re-sign the charismatic forward.

Only time will tell what happens with a potential Marko Arnautovic and West Ham reunion. It seems like a lot of Hammers fans are desperate for it not to happen, however.

One thing’s for sure. If Arnie is re-signed, it will surely spell the end of Sebastien Haller’s West Ham career.
