Will Spending $100 In ‘Genshin Impact’ Get You Klee From Her Banner?

This article is more than 3 years old.

Well, Genshin Impact is starting to become a rather…expensive prospect. If you’re an avid player, there’s little more exciting than a new character being introduced to the game. But this isn’t Avengers, that character isn’t free. This is a gacha game. And you can’t just buy the character, that would be too easy, you must gamble for them.

The new Genshin Impact character is Klee, a Pyro 5 star that has her own banner. When a character has a banner that means there’s a 50/50 shot at whatever 5 star you get is that featured one. But the chance at a 5 star is so low in the first place, that really doesn’t matter.

Genshin Impact does have a “pity” system in place, where after 90 pulls you are guaranteed a five star. But there are two catches to that. First, that 90 pulls is *per banner*. As in, if you have 60 pulls on one banner (the general Diluc/Jean one that’s up now) that does not seem to carry over to the new banner and you are starting over from zero (Update: It should carry over from the Venti banner, however). And after that 90 pulls you are just guaranteed *a* five star, not the featured one, so you only have a 50% chance to get them. Another 90 pulls after that you are guaranteed that five star if you didn’t get it the first time.

So in total, the grand cost for 180 potential pulls, if you are really unlucky and do not get the featured 5 star before then, is around $400.

So to answer my question above, no, $100 will absolutely not guarantee you Klee, and it did not get me Klee.

Here’s what I did get from spending $100:

8080 Crystals - $100

50 pulls

5 Star Heroes

0

4 Star Heroes

Noelle (x2)

Sucrose

Xinqiu (x2)

5 Star Weapons

0

4 Star Weapons

Dragon’s Bane (Polearm)

3 Star Weapons

44

If you’ve been following my Genshin Impact, coverage, you’ll know that I did $100 and started on the Venti banner, and did mange to get him. But back then, the first time you shell out $100 for the game, you get straight up double the bonus gems, which was 12,960 Primogems. That was 81 pulls compared to the 50 I was able to do for the same price now. And I probably had 50+ pulls in the Jean/Diluc banner, which did not carry over and guarantee me a five star, any five star, on the Klee banner.

Needless to say this was pretty frustrating and expensive, and while I have had okay 5 star luck in the past, this was not the case this time around. I know this is a gacha game, but even gacha veterans are saying these rates are very, very bad for the genre, and on top of that, even if you do manage to land a new 5 star, they start at level one, and I cannot imagine how long it would take to get that character up to level 70 with a level 70 weapon and rank 5 talents like my main team, given the other restrictions the game has right now.

Anyway, may you have better luck than I did.
