    Great but QUIRKY Camera...Not for Everyone Though.

    I recently bought this camera used because of the magical Leica name even though this 4 MP Model is almost five years old. I’m thinking that 10 MP with one of the small sensors that comes with these new automatic cameras is a cruel marketing joke. Used within it’s quirky constraints, the Leica Digilux 1 is capable of superb images. Pros: - Great Pictures in Natural Light. - Awesome Macros. - Built of die cast magnesium and like a 'tank.' - Really Terrific 2.5 inch, 205,000 Pixel LCD Screen. - Fast and Accurate Focusing most of the time. - Very Cool Looking Camera. Nothing else looks like this baby. Cons: - Pictures in artificial light are not so great or maybe it's the software I'm using, which is an old version of Adobe Photoshop Elements that came with the camera. Pictures taken ...

    Historical Ikon

    This camera is from 2002 and I was curious to see what was possible with four megapixels. It was an early Leica/Panasonic collaboration and many design elements are apparent in more recent Leica models. Consequently the camera is simple, direct and easy to use. The robust Leica spec construction and whatever magic they do with image quality is evident in this solid design. It may be a bit boxy and clunky in appearance and shows DNA from the old box cameras in a digital reincarnation. I checked to see if batteries/chargers were available today for this camera and there were no problems. I expect this will perform well going forward. What surprises is how much image quality this camera squeezes out of the four megapixels as long as you are willing to work with the TIFF files. I have not ...

    Leica Digilux 1

    I like the fantastic natural picture quality it is clearly better than my other 8 Mpix compaktcamera! I also like the design and the way the camera handles. Cant think of anything I dislike, spec. for that price! Bottom line is: Dont judge a digital camera by how many pixels it have...........

    Pleasantly surprised!

    I bought this because the digilux's are suppose to be rock solid, literally and top notch glass as is well known with Leica. It has lived up to the name. This is an old model that has been fun to play with. The pictures are beautiful and down loading them has worked smoothly with current computer systems.
