Originally appearing in Diamond and Pearl, the Lake Guardians are amongst some of the most popular legendary Pokemon. This iconic trio debuted in Pokemon Go in May 2019, becoming the game’s first Legendaries to spawn in the overworld.

Most of the time catching these three relies on sheer luck and a lot of luck at that, but there are ways to greatly improve your odds of encountering Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie.

To help you catch the Lake Guardians in Pokemon Go we’ve put together this handy guide on how to get them and if they can be shiny.

How to get Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie in Pokemon Go

All three legendaries appear in Tier 5 Raid Battles which will be the most accessible method for most players. They will be available in raids on February 21, 2024, as part of The Road to Sinnoh event that is currently live.

Alternatively, Azelf, Mesprite, and Uxie are all extremely rare wild encounters that are each region locked to different continents. Each legendary can only be found on their respective continent, so trading or traveling is required to catch all three.

The regions each of the Lake Guardians trio can be found are as follows:

  • Azelf – North & South America
  • Mesprit – Africa, Europe, and the Middle East
  • Uxie – Asia & Oceania

Can Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, all three of the Lake Guardians have Shiny forms in Pokemon Go which can be encountered either through Raids or as wild spawns.

Keep in mind that the Shiny variants of Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie are all extremely rare and therefore you might not encounter one even if you take part in several Raids. The good news is that if you do find one all Shiny Raid Pokemon have a guaranteed catch rate so the only challenge is completing the Raid itself.
