Easy to read and understand (FALC): a useful method
To limit the digital exclusion of certain people, the Ministry of Culture makes accessible in French some pages of its website culture.gouv.fr.
What is FALC?
Easy-to-read and easy-to-understand (FALC) is a method for translating classical language into simplified language. The FALC makes the information simpler and clearer and is thus useful to everyone, especially people with disabilities, dyslexia, the elderly and those with poor French language skills.
This method can be used by everyone. For a text or any communication medium to be FALC, it must have been read and understood by people with intellectual disabilities.
Today it is the association Inclusion Europe which makes it possible to distribute the tool. When a text is recognized FALC, this logo is affixed to it.
Where can FALC translations be found on the Ministry’s website?
On culture.gouv.fr, the first applications are information on grants, professional examinations, training, or information on the health crisis related to Coronavirus. Other pages are intended to be translated, depending on their importance and the number of times they are consulted.
Find here the list of pages that benefit from their FALC version.
