When the Devialet Mania arrived at my desk, I was struck by three things: the size, the weight, and the sound. The Mania resembles the smooth styling of Devialet's other iconic speakers, only more compact (about the size of a small melon). But it weighed far more than you might expect for a speaker of this size — it's just as substantial and solidly built as its bigger cousins. And that high-quality build translates into high-quality sound.
Full 360° soundfield
The speaker has four full-range drivers set in the top half of the dome-shaped casing. These are alternately left- and right-channel aluminum drivers, so however you're oriented to the Mania, you'll hear true stereo sound.
The side-firing bass woofers move in sync to cancel out unwanted vibrations. This lets the deepest bass frequencies come through.
A worthy addition to the line
I've had the privilege to audition each of the Devialet speakers as they came out. I wasn't sure the compact Mania could deliver the same exceptional sound quality. Happily, I was wrong.
The Mania is a smaller speaker, so it isn't quite as loud as, say, a Phantom II. But no matter. If you're using this portable speaker inside your home, it can easily fill a good-sized room with sound.
True high-fidelity reproduction
What I most appreciated about the Mania was the accuracy of the sound. Even at maximum volume, it stayed clean and undistorted. And it sounded excellent at super-low volumes, too.
That pinpoint accuracy did have one liability, though. The louder the volume, the more the limitations of my low-res audio files became apparent.
Great for quality recordings of any genre
Devialet's unique woofer configuration is great for bass-heavy music, such as rap or metal. But the entire system is great for other types of music. I played several classical selections through the system, ranging from acoustic guitar to full orchestras. All were reproduced with truly satisfying accuracy.
Innovative processing for your digital music sources
The Mania features adaptive cross-stereo technology. This means the speaker automatically adjusts its soundstage to the shape of the space. Whether you place it in the center of a room or on a shelf in the corner, you'll still enjoy richly detailed 360° stereo sound.
The speaker can deliver volume up to 95dB. The woofers and full-range drivers are powered by separate Class D amplifiers. This ensures clean, accurate sound reproduction.
Wireless options
Stream music from your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The Devialet control app comes with Spotify Connect built-in. With your Spotify subscription, you can stream from this service without leaving the app.
Apple AirPlay 2 is also built in. That means you can stream audio content directly from your iPhone®, iPad®, or Mac® computer. That includes soundtracks from YouTube® videos and Netflix® movies.
Indoor amenities
While you're inside, you can use the speaker's built-in Wi-Fi to stream via Spotify® or Apple AirPlay 2 and even issue Alexa voice commands through its built-in microphones.

The Mania's IPX4-rated design can withstand water splashes. That means you can bring high-quality Devialet sound just about anywhere. A built-in 10-hour rechargeable battery and integrated carry handle make it convenient to take the music with you.

Features
Portable Design: The Devialet Mania is a portable wireless audio speaker with support for WiFi and Bluetooth. Thanks to its built-in rechargeable battery and IPX4-rating, the Devialet Mania can easily be used indoors or outdoors.
- Splash-Resistant (IPX4-rated): The Devialet Mania carries an IPX4-rating, making it splash-resistant, so it can withstand water splashes from any direction. The Devialet Mania is only splash-resistant. It should not be exposed to direct water spray and should never be submerged in water.
- Rechargeable Battery: The built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery (3200mAh) provides up to 10 hours of wireless music streaming. The battery can be recharged using the included 58" USB-C cable and USB/AC power adapter; it takes about 3 hours to fully charge the battery. The Devialet Mania Station (sold separately) is an add-on wireless charging dock that lets you charge the Mania speaker's built-in battery by simply docking the speaker on top of the charging station. The Devialet Mania Station will need to be plugged into an AC power outlet.
- Carry Handle & Bag: The Devialet Mania features an integrated handle that lets you easily carry it around the house or outdoors. It also comes with a convenient drawstring cloth storage bag to protect it when its not being used.

- ASC (Active Stereo Calibration): The Devialet Mania will adapt its sound to your environment, thanks to its real-time acoustic mapping technology - known as ASC (Active Stereo Calibration). Four built-in room calibrating microphones and embedded intelligence capabilities allow the Devialet Mania to automatically calibrate its sound based on its surroundings. When in the center of a room, the 360-degree stereo mode is activated and a coherent soundscape is radiated all around Devialet Mania. - Cross-Stereo Architecture: The Devialet Mania is engineered with cross-stereo architecture for stereo sound no matter where you're positioned around the speaker. WiFi Certified: The Devialet Mania speaker system features built-in 2.4/5GHz dual-band WiFi (802.11ac) for a wireless network connection to your router and ISP (internet service provider). By connecting via WiFi, you can utilize Alexa voice control and compatible online music services, as well as AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect. You'll need to download the Alexa App (for Apple iOS 14.0+ and Android OS 8.0+), as well as the Devialet App (for Apple iOS 13.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) onto your compatible smartphone or tablet device in order to setup and use Alexa voice control.

Simply ask for your favorite artist or song, or request a specific genre or mood. You can also search for music by lyrics, when a song or album was released, or let Alexa pick the music for you.

AirPlay 2 with Siri: AirPlay 2 is an advanced and easy-to-use wireless multiroom audio platform for iTunes, Apple Music, and other compatible Apple iOS apps. With AirPlay 2 you can play any sound from your Apple iOS device (running iOS 11.4 or later) or Mac computer (running OS X 10.13.2) on the Devialet Mania and other compatible AirPlay 2 speakers throughout your home. You will also be able to ask Siri-enabled devices (like your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Watch) to control playback of your Apple Music on the Mania speaker system. You can choose to play audio in one room, play the same audio in grouped rooms, or play the same audio in every room. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can even play different music in different rooms (you can control and group directly from Apple's Music App and Home app on your Apple iOS device). You can even watch videos and movies from YouTube and Netflix on your compatible Apple iOS device or Mac computer with perfectly synced audio on the Devialet Mania speaker.

Spotify Connect: The integration of Spotify Connect will enable Spotify users to instantly select and wirelessly stream music to the Devialet Mania speaker system from within the Spotify app (for Apple iOS or Android OS) on your compatible smartphone or tablet device. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you on-demand access to one of the largest music libraries in the world. Spotify makes it easier than ever to discover, manage, and share music with your friends. You can browse music by artist, album, track, or most popular; and create your own music library with customized playlists.

Bluetooth 5.0: The Devialet Mania features built-in Bluetooth 5.0 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP). You'll be able to stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop computer to the Devialet Mania speaker system. You can pair multiple Bluetooth devices with the speaker system, but only one can be connected and used for playback at a time. The speaker system has a wireless Bluetooth range of 33'.
- Supported Codecs: The speaker system supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs (not compatible with aptX). SBC is Bluetooth's standard audio codec, while AAC offers higher quality wireless audio playback from Apple iOS devices (like iPod, iPhone, and iPad).
