- A: AnswerMy installation cost was included in the price I paid for the alarm. I purchased the alarm and my Best Buy and I got an install appointment 3 weeks out due to them being busy. I was told about 2.5 hours for install.

Q: QuestionThis is just a remote not a starter?(2 answers)
A: AnswerThis system is just for door lock/unlock. There is another system available with remote start, ask your Best Buy installer.Answered by Ktlynesmom
- A: AnswerYou can absolutely use this system as an alarm but if you want the manual locks to work with the alarm and to lock and unlock remotely it will require the addition of power lock actuators (small motorized switches which will have to be installed inside your doors) "see photo". The actuators are available through the installation department at your Best Buy store and will cost a bit extra for them to be installed as an addition to your alarm. Personally I really enjoy the convenience of being able to lock and unlock my car without needing to use a key, especially when carrying things.

Q: QuestionDoes it have a kill switch(1 answer)
A: AnswerIt has what is referred to by alarm manufacturers as a starter interrupt circuit that bypasses the car's ignition switch so it can not be started unless the alarm is deactivated and it also has a "valet" switch or "valet" button which allows you to temporarily deactivate the system while, as the name suggests you leave your car with a valet or while your car is being detailed, serviced or repaired at a shop. The starter interrupt is probably what you might think of as a kill switch in that if anyone tries to start the car either with a key or by "hot wiring" it, the alarm interrupts the electrical signal from the ignition by routing it through a relay hidden within the factory wire harness of your vehicle. The only way to start the car is for you to disarm the system.Answered by ToroToro
Q: QuestionIs there an add on so I can get notifications on a phone(1 answer)
A: AnswerYou would need a 3 way alarm. It might go to your phone but it will definitely notify your remote if your alarm goes off.Answered by DanF
Q: QuestionWill this work for a older model car with manual locks(2 answers)
A: AnswerYes, and they can add solenoids to make your manual locks automatic. Well worth it.Answered by pcfred

Viper keyless entry/ alarm on older 4runner.
My installer Ben, was awesome! He knew my old 97 4runner very well, and everything it took to get the viper alarm installed. Even came back for a programming issue, and he was able to figure it out in less than 5 minutes! Seemless install, with no wires seen! It's been a perfectly operating system since day 1! Would highly recommend!

Awesome alarm system
It took 3 trips to the store and 2 different appts to get my alarm system installed else i would have rated it 5 stars. I started to give it 3 but once installed the installer was very courteous and went above and beyond so i added a star. The alarm is great. Exactly what i wanted and i am completely happy with it. The installer set up the remote to pop the trunk and did some othwr features since my car is a manual and auto start is not an option. The reason i was going to rate this install a 3 at first was due to a lack of knowledge from the best buy employees. I was told i could drop my car off when the shop was closed. The first installer never installed an alarm. The first alarm was missing pieces. I had to reschedule and come back 2 more times to get this installed. Overall im happy. The remote is sensitive. I have set the alarm off with just the keys in hand. Still its a very nice alarm system. Horn and lights flash as well as alarm sounds when activated.
