For women in the church, there are a lot of rules about how to dress. For Wilhelmina, Shy, and Tiara, the guidelines were clear. Always wear stockings. Only wear closed-toed shoes. No pants, and make sure your skirt is at least mid-calf length. Blouses should be buttoned to the neck and tucked neatly, and makeup isn't needed, except maybe a little lip gloss. And finally, make sure hair is up neatly in a bun, not hanging — church check complete.



HEM: Dressing the Body and Not Addressing the Soul is a story about very different women in very different stages of life, all dealing with deep hurts. While some focus on the strict teachings of religion and how a woman in church ought to dress, others struggle with how to apply this teaching to their lives that have been flipped upside down.
