For starters, I just want to say how much I love this song. Shakira's Lebanese roots are showcased in this wonderful Arabic/Latin fusion of rhythms and orchestration. From the opening chord, it had me HOOKED. This song, "La Tortura" (The Torture) is a dialogue between a couple on the verge of breaking up. Alejandro Sanz, a Spanish crooner known well for his romantic ballads, blends so well with her voice on this duet. He sounds so frustrated, and he really sounds convincing as a tortured lover who just doesn't want to give his lady up for anything.......The song is guaranteed to make you want to get up and bellydance (even if you don't know how!).
The remix is great, too. "La Tortura" (Shaketon remix) is a cross between reggae and the original, very Arabic sound. I could definitely see the clubs playing a hole in this single, and drawing a diverse audience of Latinos and non-Latinos alike. This is truly a cross-over hit.
A single should be rated like a single, and not like if it would be the whole album. for that purpose this single does the job very decently, however not one of the best ones from shakira. very necessary for the collectors like me.

This song is awesome! Too bad it's not in english because it would have been such a big hit here. Hopefully radio stations hear it and pick it up because it has such a great beat and it is sooo catchy! Great for anytime, especially dancing. Trust me, once you here it, you'll be hooked!
