This doesn’t look like the photo at all, there are more gaps than the photo shows and that is what makes this loofa kinda scratchy. It lathers well for me using a soap without all the lather chemicals. It didn’t expand that much when I rinsed it in water. Next time I might submerge it so it takes shape better. For the price it does what it is supposed to do. It is a bit scratchy though.

These are rougher than most that I buy, and have been harder to get to soften as opposed to some other brands I've purchased, but otherwise are exactly as described. These comments are hilarious ----the loofah is a dried out gourd that might have seeds. It might smell vegetal, as it's a vegetable. It comes flat because it has been squashed and packaged to be thin for shipping and storing --- once they are wet the will indeed become rounded. I am fairly certain most of these reviewers didn't know what a natural loofah is before purchase.
I use them for body in the shower once they are softened, and then as a scrub for household uses once they wear out. The very best for scrubbing sink and tub surrounds.
