As a 6th grader who has seen the musical many times, it was disappointing to see that this book does skip over many details of the story, and while the main idea is covered okay, but there are a lot of missing details from the original book and musical. They leave out many characters (no Eponine, no Gavroche, no innkeepers husband) and they skip over material very quickly leaving many gaps. And the story starts at a time when Fontine is already dying and barely mentions jean valjean's enslavement.

I was excited for get this for my daughter but really sad to see how poorly it followed the actual story. I was concerned about the explicit nature of it (there are some very adult issues in the original book), but it was appropriate for a tween and the art was nice but if you really know the story you'll be disappointed.

It was a very nice purchase. I bought it as a gift for a friend of mine and she really liked it a lot. The fact that she had read the novel version made her go like "HEEEY IS THERE A CRAPHIC NOVEL FOR THAT ONE ????" Yeah...she was super excited about it. Also she likes drawing , so the graphics gave her new ideas. Last but not least it was an opportunity for a small practice in English language. Yes, I believe it was worth the money.
