Szesnastoletnia Anda została nagle w czarodziejski sposób przeniesiona w dziewiętnastowieczną przeszłość. W jednej chwili znika cały znany jej świat: elektryczność, tramwaje, samochody. Zmieniają się stroje i fryzury. Anda zamiast wygodnych spodni nosi długą suknię, a pod nią sztywny gorset. Najgorsze jednak, że w nowej rzeczywistości panują zupełnie przestarzałe obyczaje, z którymi naszej rówieśniczce niełatwo jest się pogodzić. Anda, choć wygląda inaczej, wciąż mówi i zachowuje się jak współczesna dziewczyna, co prowadzi do wielu komicznych sytuacji, bo to, co normalne dzisiaj, okazuje się nie do przyjęcia w wieku XIX. Ta podróż w czasie, choć nie zawsze przyjemna, wiele Andę nauczyła. Prawdą jest, że podróże kształcą... także podróże w czasie!
W 1963 r. powstała filmowa adaptacja Godziny pąsowej róży w reżyserii Haliny Bielińskiej. Film cieszył się ogromną popularnością, został doceniony także przez krytyków – w 1963 r. zdobył główną nagrodę na MFF dla Dzieci i Młodzieży w Wenecji (Złoty Lew), a w 1964 r. przyznano mu Wyróżnienie Honorowe na MFF dla Dzieci i Młodzieży w Cannes.

Sixteen-year-old Anda was suddenly magically transported to the 19th century past. In an instant, the whole world she knows disappears: electricity, streetcars, cars. Outfits and hairstyles change. Instead of comfortable pants, Anda wears a long gown, and under it a stiff corset. Worst of all, however, in the new reality there are completely outdated customs, with which our peer is not easy to come to terms. Anda, although she looks different, still speaks and behaves like a modern girl, which leads to many comical situations, because what is normal today turns out to be unacceptable in the 19th century. This time travel, although not always pleasant, taught Anda a lot. It is true that travel educates.... including time travel!
In 1963, a film adaptation of The Hour of the Moustachioed Rose was made, directed by Halina Bielinskaya. The film was extremely popular, and was also appreciated by critics - in 1963 it won the main prize at the Venice IFF for Children and Young People (Golden Lion), and in 1964 it was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Cannes IFF for Children and Young People.
