I wish it fit tighter over the phones
This monocular was amazing! For starters I had never heard of a monocular, only binoculars. When I saw this I took a chance in ordering. I travel often and the views where I visited recently were high mountain views and valleys and beautiful lakes. I’m not a bird watcher but I was someplace where there were lots of different types so this was the perfect tool. It was easy to figure out even without the instructions but it definitely comes with a manual. Even though it had a cover for the lens it also comes with its own carrying case. I do wish the case was padded a little but I made due by adding a hand towel in my bag so nothing heavy leaned against it. It was pretty secure without it but I wanted to be extra careful.Obviously the best feature is the phone holder. It’s one thing to see those beautiful views but it’s amazing to be able to take photos of the immaculate intricate images that you see. I have an iPhone XR and the connector fit tightly around my phone with no issues. The problem is trying to balance holding the heavy monocular and hold the phone in place. That proved to be not just difficult but impossible for me. The phone was not able to remain in place because the monocular is just too heavy. If you hold only the monocular then the phone slips. The phone is in tact in the clip but the part that connects the phone over the lens of the monocular doesn’t stay in place. I thought it was my phone but I tried it with a friends’ newer iPhone, and 2 different androids. They all functioned properly but it’s too cumbersome to hold the heavy monocular in place and try to steady your phone and take a picture all at the same time. This was disappointing. Using the monocular solo worked fine. The point of my purchase was so I could get images of what I see. I was able to connect my phone to a tripod and hold the monocular only. I still had to have a very steady hand to take the pic. While this may have worked, it was temporary and required more stuff to be dragged along with me on my excursions. It also took too long to set up and some terrain did not allow for me to stand the tripod up. Way too much work for me. I’ll just get the best pic I can by zooming in.
