It's a little heavy due to its very strong and durable hardwood post. However, the well-sharpened weeding head makes precision weeding around perennials, very quick easy--at least for weeds with short roots growing in moist soil.
For dandelions and other plants that grow deep roots, you'll need a step-on weeder with at least four prongs, that allows you to twist the roots after they are captured in the prongs, so that you can pull out most of the roots. Sorry, one stand-up weeder won't do it all.

Very dull!!! Not worth the money.
For years I have owned a same design hand tool that I loved. It was razor sharp with slight serrations.This tool's edgas are not sharp at all requiring a lot of pressure. In the photos you can see the dull cutting edge. I used it for 5 minutes and gave up... Very disappointing.

First of all, this as light as it gets. It's made of some wood that is lightweight, yet definitely, 100% not some cheap particle-board. It is made of full-grain wood. Perhaps a sealed pine.
The head is where the magic happens, and it is true stainless-steel. It would have rusted by now if it was not. The edges make it easy to dig up small-batch weeds here and there. It's not as effective for weeds as a dedicated weeder, that gets the roots. This is a completely fine tool for small clearing/tilling jobs. I will update this review if it breaks or fails.
Last thing, I wanted to take a picture to show the angle at which it is flat with the ground. Hope that helps!

This gardening tool is beautiful. It is made of top quality stainless steel and wood. This is an example of how things should be made. I prefer to buy one hiqh quality tool that will last a lifetime versus buying a new cheap tool every few years and struggling with it along the way.
The stainless is beautiful. The wood handle is perfect. The grain is very straight and set in the right direction.
This is relatively easy to use. Pulling back with an edge digging under the weed seemed to work for me. I do wonder if the weed will come back because I don’t think I’m getting all the roots. I need more experience because I start thinking it might be easier to bend over and pull the weed. Then I bend over to pull the weed and it snaps off at the ground and all the roots are left in the ground. Then I grab this tool.
This is not s staple tool for your gardening shed, but it is a very useful tool once you are in an advanced maintenance mode. I’m glad I got this one in the collection.
