About this Item
Engraving measuring 33 x 20.5 cm (plate-mark) on paper measuring 57.5 x 40.5 cm. This exquisite engraving depicts the Flora Farnese, a colossal sculpture of the Roman goddess originally discovered at the Baths of Caracalla. The sculpture, once part of the Farnese collection, is currently housed at the Naples National Archaeological Museum. While the engraving is unsigned, it is unmistakably crafted in the latter half of the 18th century, likely for Grand Tour visitors. The paper exhibits slight toning, with remnants of a centerfold and traces of binding visible in the left margin. Seller Inventory # 007943
