First printing of the first edition to be translated by Constance Garnett. Bound in publisher's original gray cloth with titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Near Fine light rubbing to edges and spine ends, light toning to spine, light soiling to textblock edge. Contemporary former owner gift inscription to front free endpaper, pages lightly toned. A lovely copy of what American literary scholar Joseph Frank describes as "the most personal of all Dostoevsky's major works, the book in which he embodies his most intimate, cherished, and sacred convictions.".
