Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli

2:00 PM-2:55 PM: Fiesta Scottsdale Stage

Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli-AZ of Chandler, Arizona is a dynamic non-profit dance organization celebrating the colorful traditions of Mexican folkloric dance. Under the direction of Vanessa Ramirez, the group began as a recreational class at the City of Chandler’s Snedigar Recreation Center. As one of very few East Valley folklorico groups currently operating, interest in the dance troupe has grown rapidly from just 6 students in June of 2008 to more than 90 students currently. Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli-AZ’s students range in age from 5 to adult and enjoy an exciting and fun way to express themselves through dance and learn about Hispanic heritage. Students learn dances from various regions of Mexico. Not only do they have fun and get good exercise, but they receive a small history lesson with each dance. Each month the students are assigned a homework assignment related to the region of Mexico where the dance they are learning originates or of a particular cultural holiday. Each child shares in class what they’ve learned in a presentation. This encourages self-esteem through cultivating public speaking skills as well as the showmanship of performance. It has been wonderful to observe the growth and confidence that these young children have developed in such short time. They are truly an inspiration.

Western Fusion Band

12:00 Noon–2:00 PM: Silverado Main Stage

Western Fusion was formed in the late 90’s by band leader Brian Childress. Brian’s goals were to have a band that sounded like radio and be composed of some of the best musicians Arizona has to offer.. In the beginning Western Fusion was a traditional country band. As the band evolved with musicians, so did the music. Today the standard five piece band still plays country including George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Keith Urban, Old Dominion, Cody Johnson and can evolve with hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today’s pop/rock including a mix from Bruno Mars, Motley Crue, Sublime, 311, Bryan Adams, Billy Idol, Tears for Fears, and the list goes on!

Western Fusion has been on the local scene for over 25 years and has enjoyed playing various venues throughout the state. The band has opened for National Acts such as: Blake Shelton, Easton Corbin and Mark Wills. They were also the opening act for Charlie Daniels at Cliff Castle Casino. Western Fusion has played the Tempe Block Party, events for the Town of Gilbert, Town of Camp Verde, Town of Chino Valley, City of Surprise, Phoenix International Raceway, Coconino County Fair, Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, Gila River Casinos, Apache Gold Casino, Fort McDowell Casino and most recently The Tropicana for Wrangler’s National Finals Rodeo Watch Party.
