Handknit Norwegian Sweater / in 3 Natural Colors of Organic Yarn for Saga Knits

This special hand knitted Norwegian cardigan sweater is made in 3 natural colors of organic wool yarn. It was made in the late 1950s - early 60s. It is NOS (new old stock) and has never been worn. It is a unisex style and will fit a woman’s size Med - Large or a Man’s size Small - Medium. It measures approximately 22 inches pit to pit and is 26” long. The circular yoke construction flows directly over the shoulders into the sleeves so there is no exact shoulder measurement. It will fit over many shoulder shapes gracefully. The best way to measure the sleeves is from underarm to cuff edge. I will provide this measurement shortly. Cuffs can be rolled up a time of two to adjust the length. The upper arm and shoulder is meant to be wide and comfortably fit over several layers as these sweaters were intended to be worn for skiing and working on farms and fishing boats. The utilitarian aspects of the design makes the style both comfortable and attractive. This is a beautiful rustic garment. It is technically very well knitted and the yarn is extra special. It features 8 hand made pewter buttons with flower motifs. 7 of the flowers are the same type and the 8th - bottom button - has a slightly different flower on it which imparts a charming touch like a personal signature of the maker. The main color yarn is a natural off white and the contrast colors are grey and black. The wool is from the fleeces of 3 different sheep - 1 natural white, 1 grey and 1 black
