Empoasca vitis

Species Information
Length 3-4 mm. The green colouring with white markings on the head, pronotum and scutellum distinguish the genus from other leafhoppers in the UK. Empoasca vitis is separated from Empoasca decipens by the glassy, translucent longitudinal stripes, often blueish-looking, especially in the median cell that runs obliquely up the forewing, which may be hard to determine due to illumination.

Seen all year round, usually found on deciduous trees in summer, and evergreens in winter, on which it hibernates. Widespread and often abundant in the UK. Native.
