Mock orange, Philadelphus coronarius, is a native flowering shrub. Renowned for their clusters of white, four-petaled blooms in late spring and early summer, these deciduous shrubs can reach heights of 10 to 12 feet. Their sweet fragrance, resembling orange blossoms (hence the name), attracts butterflies and pollinators, making them a delightful addition to gardens.
Mock orange is relatively low-maintenance. Plant them in well-drained soil in full sun for optimal flowering, though they tolerate partial shade.
