New Knicks sharpshooter Sasha Vujacic wasn’t willing to bat the ball back when asked twice Monday if he still maintains a friendship with tennis star Maria Sharapova. The two broke off their engagement in September 2012.
“I can’t hear you, what?’’ Vujacic said jokingly.
That plans to be Vujacic’s stock answer this season whenever he’s asked about the Russian blonde who pulled out of the U.S. Open last month with a leg injury.
The former Lakers shooting guard hasn’t played a full season in the NBA since 2010-11 save for two games with the Clippers in 2013. Vujacic blames it on being “impatient’’ during the 2011 lockout and signing quickly with a European team. “It messed it up a bit,’’ Vujacic said, adding, “It’s been a great journey. No regrets.’’
