Drawing inspiration from the Cubist movement of the early 20th century, Muniz reimagines works by artists such as Maria Blanchard, Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Fernand Leger, Jean Metzinger, Pablo Picasso, and Diego Rivera. The art movements arose from the need to define and represent the then-new modern reality. Through a layered and iterative process of collaging, photographing, and hand manipulating, His art develops intricate designs that are deconstructed, then recombined into abstraction to form awe-inspiring images that blur the line between the real and the imagined. In line with the experimental spirit of the era, His use of ready-made objects echoes the experimental works produced during the early 20th Century, where artists embraced non-traditional materials and mean to create texture and depth.
