The end of summer and a changing season means it's time for hearty Polish food.
The decor is distinctly rustic mountain barn minus the smell of livestock. Very cheerful. It reminded me of my grandmother's living room, which is odd because there isn't a hint of Polish in our blood line: only rumours of a dalliance with a Polish WWll fighter pilot. Hmmm...
The wait staff are very professional in a way that tells the customer "I like my job!". They dance around the restaurant floor like Olympic champion ice skaters Torvil and Dean.
We started with a fresh jug of beer and they brought this with bread, smalec and sour cream. Not wanting to spoil my delicate appetite, I had a nibble on my dining companion's crust (see below).
I ordered the chicken pocket with beetroot and jacket potato. In a strange twist that has foxed me on a previous occasion, jacket potatoes are described as roast potatoes and vice versa.
The meal came in about 15 minutes allowing me and DC to catch up on the world's events and guzzle our way through the freshly-poured pitcher.
The meal was absolutely delicious. The potato was fresh, soft and covered in sour cream. The chicken was stuffed with ham, cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. I don't think I'll ever look at colonel Sanders the same way ever again. The warm beets were a trip.
My DC Ordered the potato pancakes and goulash. Two slabs of pancake were too much for my tiny diner.
The bill totalled 87zl but we left 100 to recognize the fabulous food and service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 3820994Mar 28, 2016
Really good authentic Polish food for reasonable prices. I tend to go for the pierogi or potato pancakes with goulash. I'm always super full whenever I leave here. Service is speedy and friendly. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. It's set up like a barn or old house (depending which room/table) you're at. Definitely makes the experience more fun.

Chicken not cooked all the way bad service. By the time I finished my dish my friends started to receive theirs. Will not return

Nice inexpensive place just off of the main square, not too far from castle. Not too fancy, but it has a friendly rustic decor. They have air conditioning!

I have eaten here many times always very good, yet I wish they had brought our drinks before 30 minutes of waiting. Would it kill a Polish waiter to smile? Or maybe say Hello ?
Looked like she was ready to kill us every time we asked for something.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rodney R.Brighton, CO70642Aug 16, 2017
We were looking for some authentic polish food while in Krakow and Chlopskie Jadlo was recommended. The price of the food compared to the serving sizes were incredible. We ordered half of a farmer's platter so that we could sample several different items. The platter had pirogies, cabbage rolls, pork chop, and half a roasted chicken. Plus this came with a choice of two sides (barley with onions and parsley was very good) and a selection of sauces to go with the food. They also had some amazing crock pickles that were brought out prior to the meal. We highly recommend this restaurant.

A little hard to find as it is down a hallway on the street to get to the square. Well worth it. Tables are old picnic tables. Place has a nice feel. Server was not overly friendly but said, "You trust me?" and brought us a sample platter for the four of us. Beer was top notch. Food was excellent. Cooked perfectly and the presentation made us all smile. We didn't finish. This was our first night and it set the stage very well on a great trip to Kraków.

Cheerful atmosphere and friendly wait staff. We were served quickly and the food was fresh and the portions were huge! I had the potato pancakes and goulash- which comes with 2 but you can add an additional for a small fee. I couldn't eat more than one! I had a great experience and want to come back to sample more of the menu. There are many ways to build your meal- options of sides with the main. I think this place will be on my lunch rotation!
