The Central California SPCA says humane officers have seized seven horses in the Fresno area in the past 60 days due to neglect.

The CCSPCA says the horses are just the latest in an increase of investigations on livestock and equines in Fresno County.

The horses are on an investigation hold and are currently being nursed back to health by the care of CCSPCA.

Humane officers have overseen and investigated nearly 1,000 cases of neglect and animal cruelty in Fresno County in addition to more than 100 health and safety wellness checks over the past 2 years.

CCSPCA humane officers exercise the powers of peace officers to enforce state animal cruelty laws, make arrests, serve warrants, and file criminal charges directly with the Fresno County District Attorney’s office to prosecute offenders.

If you suspect animal abuse or neglect, you can report it online at ccspca.com or call (559) 233-7722.
