Richard Goode (June 1, 1943-) is an American pianist, specializing in Beethoven and chamber music. Born in the East Bronx, New York, he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Rudolf Zelkin and Mieczyslaw Horszowski. She won the first Clara Haskil International Competition and was awarded the Avery Fischer Prize. She received a Grammy Award for her recording of Brahms' Clarinet Sonatas with Richard Stoltzman. This complete collection was acclaimed as "the ideal pianist as Beethoven performance" and "the only performance in which perfection and original interpretation and self-assertion are evenly interspersed."This was an unusual interpretation for its time, not one that sought emotional depth, but one that was exciting in Beethoven's purist and perfectionist nature.
