This Ford Escort RS Cosworth got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth was transformed into a World Rally Championship tribute in 1998 by German Cosworth specialist Rallye Technic. The turbocharged 2.0-liter Cosworth inline-four pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission and has been modified with a blow-off valve, P8 ECU, boost pressure adjuster, and aftermarket injectors. Additional modifications include Ford Motorsport graphics, Morette headlamps, a rear wing, rally dashboard display, aftermarket seats, upgraded brakes, lowering springs, Bilstein shocks, and 18″ wheels. The car reportedly resided in Germany from new until being imported to the Netherlands by the seller in May 2016. This Escort RS is now offered in Gilze, Netherlands with a certificate from Ford, past registration documents, and a clean Dutch title in the seller’s name.

The Escort RS Cosworth was built to homologate the model for FIA Group A rally racing, with just over 7,000 examples produced during a 4-year production run. The matte-silver finish was reportedly applied during the 1998 work, and aluminum front fenders were fitted at that time along with Morette headlamps and a WRC-style rear wing. The seller notes a scratch on the vented hood and rust around the fuel cap, as shown in the photo gallery below.

A set of white Team Dynamics Motorsport 18″ wheels wear Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 tires sized 235/40. Rallye Technic reportedly fitted the car with lowering springs and Bilstein dampers, as well as 330mm front and 300mm rear brake rotors.

The interior has been modified with aftermarket seats and door panels, a Momo steering wheel, and a Sony CD player. A Stack 8100 rally dashboard display has also been installed, and its operating manual is included in the sale according to the seller, as are the toolbox and spare wheel that are absent in photos of the trunk compartment.

The odometer shows just over 28,300 kilometers (~17,600 miles), approximately 400 kilometers of which have been added by the seller in two years of ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The longitudinally-mounted Cosworth 2.0-liter four sends power to a permanent 4-wheel drive system. As one of the first 2,500 Escort RS Cosworth models produced, this example features a Garrett T35 turbocharger, which is larger than the T25 unit in later cars. The turbo is connected to a dial under the hood that allows peak boost pressure to be adjusted, and a blow-off valve is also present. Other modifications reportedly include a Magneti Marelli P8 ECU, dark green 382cc injectors, and a stainless steel exhaust. German paperwork provided in the photo gallery verifies that the car was certified for street use following the modifications. It also indicates that the engine was officially stated to produce 215 kilowatts (288 horsepower) at 6,260 rpm with the lowest turbo pressure, an increase of more than 70 horsepower from stock.

The invoice for a €2k service in March 2018 is provided above and includes a new CV joint, distributor belt, and tensioner, as well as fresh oil, coolant, and differential fluid. The seller notes that the alarm system drains the battery after a couple of days and that the oil pressure sensor needs to be replaced.

The included Fabrieksverklaring van Overeenstemming document (which translates to “factory declaration of conformity”) from Ford Nederland B.V. verifies that this car was originally constructed in December 1992 as an Escort Cosworth 2.0. Past and current registration documents are also provided in the gallery, as is paperwork from when the car was imported from Germany to the Netherlands in 2016.

The car can be seen and heard in four videos provided by the seller. In addition to the video above, there is onboard footage of the car accelerating here and here as well as another drive-by video.
