This is 1975 when I saw the Willys for the first time. I fell in love with it because it was different and was able to buy it for $500. It was a 4 cylinder F head engine with no radio or heater.
This picture shows when I brought it back to the original condition with improvements. Everything from the front bumper to the rear bumper that moved was replaced or reworked. I rebuilt the engine and trans. I took it from a 3 speed shifter on the column to a floor mounted 3 speed. I couldn’t find an original radio, therefore, I put in an after market one in a glove box on the dashboard behind the steering wheel. I also put in an Opal GT heater. All new paint job to original colors.
This picture is when I converted the car from a stock 4 cylinder to an all Chevy V8 engine, trans and both rears (front and back) making it a Chevy 4 Wheel drive. I did this by cutting the original frame and fish plating the original frame and a Chevy frame together. This was done all because my son said it couldn’t be done.
This is where I went crazy. I have over 100 frame and body modifications. Just to name a few: We chopped, lowered and extended the front end louvered the hood. Changed the tail gate from the 2 piece SUV style to a one piece hearse style. The tires were changed to 17” 8 wide in the front and 20” 10 wide in the rear. 9” Ford rear with 4 11 gears positraction. Took out 3rd window pillar and made a one piece glass window in rear. Suicided the front doors. The whole nose opens back toward the windshield. The radiator with the fans, gas tank and air conditioning condenser are all located in a compartment under a panel behind the rear end of the car.
