British Airways - In order to effectively communicate with its 49,000 global, British Airways has had an Intranet in place called the 'Employee Self Service' (ESS) program. However, while the ESS had been receiving 6.5 million page impressions a month and 3,000 searches per day, most employees still didn't know "how/where to find XX". To address this issue, BA selected Google, and has been very pleased with the results. The KeyMatch feature is particularly useful. For example, over 14,000 people a year search for 'safety equipment and procedures' or 'SEP'; KeyMatch ensures these users see the appropriate page at the top of their search results. In summary, a small investment in the Google Search Appliance has helped ensure that the £55M investment in the employee self service program is paying off.

Deutsche Post - With the addition of Exel in the United Kingdom, Deutsche Post is the largest global logistics company with 440,000 employees. While they wanted their employees to be able to easily access internal information, much of their information resided in separate content management systems. They selected Google to provide a single point of access to all of their information. Working with GFT, a Google partner, Deutsche Bank integrated all of their content management systems with the Google Search Appliance, implementing full access control through a single sign-on system.



United States Post Office - USPS was heavily resource-constrained in their IT group, as a result of a number of years of budget cuts. Yet, they were in need of an overhaul of its information access for all its constituents -- customers, employees, and OIG (Office of Inspector General), an oversight group. For all of three purposes, they selected the Google Search Appliance.

For their customers at USPS.com, the Google Search Appliance provided far greater relevancy out of the box, and USPS easily customized the results presentation to accommodate their "look and feel". For their employees, they introduced an Intranet search feature, not having one previously. This provided thousands of employees with far easier access to information. And for the OIG, which did not have any means of retrieving and issuing relevant auditor reports from their internal OIG network, the Google Search Appliance enabled full content access directly from the Intranet network.
